Prayer Guide
Believing that prayer honors God, blesses His people, moves His hand to deliver from
scourges of Satan, and benefits those for whom we pray; I hereby commit myself to pray
specifically and faithfully for my nation, my church (Isaiah's Call) and its leaders, and for
the Lord's work being done through the Isaiah Connection for one-half hour each week.
Spiritual Preparedness – January 14, 2010
“Before the great revivals of history, God’s people had a great burden for prayer, personal
and corporate cleansing, and holiness. Once attention was given to these necessary prerequisites,
revival came suddenly, swiftly and with great affect . . . Individuals must be ready . . . ” –Melvin Blackaby
Scripture: “Break up your fallow ground . . .” (Hos. 10:12, NASB).
Prayer” Father, for Your glory, break up our fallow ground. Give us a great burden for prayer,
personal and corporate cleansing, and holiness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Thursday, January 14 – Plead with God to teach us that if we ever lose our sense of needing repentance or knowing the virtue of repentance, we are unprepared to be used by Him and live in darkness. Confess our tendency to become hardened to His Word and apathetic to what He requires of us. Beg Him to soften our hearts and do whatever is necessary to break up our fallow ground.
“Sow with a view to righteousness, reap in accordance with kindness; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD until He comes to rain righteousness on you” (Hos. 10:12, NASB).
Friday, January 15 – Confess to the Lord that against Him and Him only have we sinned through unpreparedness and hardness of heart. Ask Him to enable our repentance for having made ourselves so unusable to Him, and His purposes. Ask Him to help us cultivate a prepared heart.
“Only know, understand, and acknowledge your iniquity and guilt--that you have rebelled and transgressed against the Lord your God and have scattered your favors among strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed My voice, says the Lord” (Jer. 3:13, AMP).
Saturday, January 16 – Implore God to teach us that a person or church cannot repent when it chooses, for repentance is a gift of God. Beg Him to grant us through His Spirit the pains of repentance that demolish our respectable goodness and cleanse us from all corrupt affections and lusts.
“For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns. Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart . . . lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn . . . because of the evil of your doings” (Jer. 4:3-4, KJV).
Sunday, January 17 – Pray for God to help us examine ourselves to see if we have forgotten how to seek Him in repentance, which means cultivating a prepared heart. Ask God to convict us of our unpreparedness to respond to Him and to bring us to deep repentance.
“Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked. For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward” (Deut. 10:16-17, KJV).
Monday, January 18 – Call upon the Lord, asking Him to expand our vision of Christ as Head of His church that we would not allow sin to remain unchecked.
“He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything (Col. 1:18, NASB).
Tuesday, January 19 – Entreat the Lord to teach us that readiness as His people requires that the whole church live in a deep love relationship with Christ as its Head.
“That they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me” (John 17:21, NASB).
Wednesday, January 20 – Beseech God to direct you and your church into a love relationship with the Head of the church so you may be ready when He desires to use you.
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death” (Phi.l 3:10, KJV).

Religion or Right Relationship – January 21, 2010
“When God’s people depart from a right relationship with Him, they need revival . . . The primary reason we need
revival is that we have forsaken our love relationship with God—our first love . . . A right relationship with God
is the requirement for genuine revival.” –Henry Blackaby and Claude King
Scripture: “You have forsaken your first love” (Rev. 2:4, NIV).
Prayer: Lord, do whatever is necessary to gain our attention and bring us back into a
right relationship with Yourself. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Thursday, January 21 – Cry out for understanding how we and our churches can move away from God and His ways. Ask Him to teach us that this begins in our hearts, not in our activities, and continues to spiral away from Him until we no longer listen to or obey Him, and ultimately bow down to substitutes.
“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water” (Jer. 2:13, NIV).
Friday, January 22 – Ask God to reveal any place He sees in us where we have exchanged His glory for a substitute for Him, His presence, and ways.
“ . . . I know your deeds . . . Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love” (Rev. 2:2-4, NIV).
Saturday, January 23 – Implore God to enable us to see that if we argue with Him or delay obedience when He speaks, it indicates a progression away from the love relationship with Him. Ask God to help us take a serious look at our lives and our churches to see if there are things He has commanded us to do that we are not doing.
“But if your [mind and] heart turn away and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them” (Deut 30:17, AMP). “‘Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,’ says the LORD Almighty. . .” (Mal. 3:7, NIV).
Sunday, January 24 – Cry out for God to set the plumb line of His Word alongside us, our families, churches and nation to show us the places we have departed from Him. Ask God to do whatever is necessary to reveal our defection from relationship into religion.
“. . . the Lord stood upon a wall with a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand . . . Then said the Lord, Behold, I am setting a plumb line as a standard in the midst of My people Israel. I will not pass by and spare them any more [the door of mercy is shut]” (Amos 7:7-8, AMP).
Monday, January 25 – Plead with God to teach us that He looks at the heart behind the service and work we do for Him to see why we are doing it. Ask God to give us a glimpse of our sin-stained selves from His holy perspective.
“ . . . I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive but you are dead” (Rev. 3:1, NASB).
Tuesday, January 26 – Entreat the Lord to teach us that when Israel had departed from Him they multiplied temples or buildings thinking it honored God, but they were really multiplying judgment for not returning to the relationship of love with Him. Ask God to open our eyes to our own sin and pride.
“For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces and idol temples, and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire upon his cities and it shall devour his palaces and fortified buildings” (Hosea 8:14, AMP).
Wednesday, January 27 – Confess our spiritual decline into sin and broken fellowship with God. Ask God to reveal to us whether we are in vital relationship with Him or just practicing religion.
“So My people are bent on turning from Me. Though they call them to the One on high, none at all exalts Him” (Hos. 11:7, NASB).
